How to Find A Pet Friendly AirBnB For Your Next Road Trip

How to Find A Pet Friendly AirBnB For Your Next Road Trip

With the summer in full swing and vacations coming up, some of your pups will be coming along for the ride. But traveling with dogs can be a hassle, especially in the car— and finding affordable, pet-friendly spot for your destination can be even more challenging. With that in mind, we scoured the web for the best tools for finding a pet-friendly AirBnB, hotel, and other accommodations so you can make the most of any road trip with your dog.

BringFido

BringFido is a leading pet travel site and lifestyle brand. You can explore thousands of places to stay, play, or eat with your dog, including pet-friendly vacation rentals, hotels, restaurants, and more. Even if you don't book accommodations through BringFido, it's a great tool for finding activities to do on your vacation so your pup can be a part of the whole experience.

Pets Welcome

Another great tool is Pets Welcome. While they mostly feature pet-friendly hotel chains, their site has a much more detailed database of information, allowing users to easily review pet policies and pet fees, and filter by breed, weight, and more.

Pet-Friendly Results On AirBnB

On Airbnb.com, enter your destination, dates, and the number of guests, then click “Search”. On the search results page, click “More filters”. In the pop-up, scroll down to “House rules” and select “Pets allowed”. This way, your search results only display pet-friendly listings. Many other popular hotel booking sites have similar filters but tracking down any associated fees might take a little extra leg work.

Get ready for the road!

Just like training a dog to sit or roll over, experts recommend that dog owners start the car training process long before an upcoming trip (when possible) to allow your dog time to adjust to their new surroundings. If car rides make your dog anxious, you can try bringing along a toy, a blanket, or another favorite item, as these can help your dog remain calm in a strange environment.  If you’re planning your very first long trip with your dog, or your dog has any major health issues, you might also consider a brief conversation with your vet before departing to make sure they're cleared to travel.
