Recap of the New York International Auto Show 2018
We had an amazing time at the New York International Auto Show last weekend! We discovered new models from major manufacturers, examined upgraded features, and explored new and futuristic technology. Here were some of our favorite moments:
Ford’s showed off their new self-driving delivery vehicle prototype.
Their lego man was a huge hit, too!
The 2018 Chevy Silverado RedLine Edition was on display featuring red tow hooks, 20-inch black wheels with red accents, and a black Chevrolet bowtie. The 2019 Silverado will be released later this year with many all new features.
The all-new 2019 Chevy Traverse RS featured a 2.0L 4-Cylinder Turbo with 255 horsepower and a generous 295 lb-ft of torque. It’s one of the only 3-row crossovers with an economical 4-cylinder engine.
Mazda’s KAI CONCEPT featured their next-generation SKYACTIV-X gasoline engine and showed off their new styling trends. While the engine is still being developed, Mazda hopes it will become one of the first commercial gasoline engines to “use compression ignition to realize an unprecedented level of sharp engine response and torqueful acceleration combined with higher fuel efficiency and cleaner emissions than ever before.”
Audi’s R8 RWS is a rear wheel drive vehicle, which is incredibly rare for the manufacturer. The vehicle featured well-integrated side intakes, which feed the massive 5.2L V10, and breathtakingly clean lines. Audi is only bringing 320 models to the US.
The 2019 Mercedes AMG C 63 Sedan featured a V8 Biturbo and had some serious braking power. It looked great with the Panamericana grille which is a new styling element for this model, borrowed from the AMG GTR Supercar. Also new for this model is a 9-speed multi-clutch transmission.
The new Mercedes G Class was swamped by crowds but we managed to sneak in this shot! The SUV is 375 pounds lighter than its predecessor and is packed with all new features.
Volvo showed off it’s innovative V60. The 2019 iteration is a complete redesign of the model, using Volvo’s new modular architecture, and won’t be available until early 2019.
Lincoln put Range Rover on notice, with the release of the 2020 Aviator Concept. The three-row luxury SUV featured a twin-turbocharged engine and plug-in hybrid technology, and sits on its own rear wheel drive chassis which is unique to the vehicle.
